Delaware Valley Youth Sports League

November 9, 2020


Opening: The regular monthly meeting for DVYSL was called to order at 6:35pm on November 9, 2020 as a Zoom Meeting by John Corrie, President.



In attendance: John Corrie, President, Bill Fells, Baseball Vice President, Carly Longhenry, Treasurer, Erin Ruppert, Secretary, Jessica Olcott, Softball Vice President, GraceB Biscardi, Dan Wallace, Colleen Montgomery, Amber Winslow, Keith Winslow, Megan Talmadge, Stephanie Stoll, Shannon Papadatos, Steven Stahlman, Elizabeth Stahlman, Tara Van Horn


Treasury Report

  • There is $16,065.02 in our account. Approximately $4800 is from Fall Ball team balances.


By-law Committee Meeting Update

  • Through Article VII
  • Meetings November 11, December 9 at 6pm on Zoom
  • November plan to get through Article X, possibly begin rules of play
  • Vote in February


Softball Fall Season Recap - Jessica

  • Added 8U for fall this year
  • Tournament focused season for all three divisions - 8U, 10U, 12U
  • Getting more competitive as a league at these tournaments


Baseball Fall Season Recap

  • 9U
    • Played one tournament
    • Grew leaps & bounds, and very close to championship game
  • 10U
    • Won championship for USABL
  • 12U
    • Played in USABL championship game, only team to take champs to 6 innings
  • Program as a whole elevating
  • Overall feeling that the fall season was a great success 


Equipment Return

  • About 60% returned
  • Will go over inventory at fall cleanup this weekend


Field Cleanup

  • Saturday Nov 14th 9-12
  • Mostly concessions and the shed
  • Would like to get both mowers in the shed if possible
  • Water being shut of 11/10


Abuse Training for 2021 Season

  • Based on Safe Sport Act
  • Absolutely mandatory that rostered coaches do this
  • If people have the certificate from other sports (ie soccer coaches), they can submit that to DVYSL
  • $25 per coach - easily covered by fundraising


New Business

  • End of fall season banquet question from Dan Wallace - Erie now at 50 max guests, so each time is more or less on its own
  • Carly Longhenry question regarding sealing up the concessions stand better.


President Statement

  • Year was an incredible success - first league to open when Pike County went to “Green Phase” for COVID in June
  • Not one 1 positive COVID case in our players or coaches for the rec and fall seasons
  • John Corrie intends to step down as DVYSL President in August 2021
  • Over the next 9 months, John will help the Executive Board prepare for the transition and the future
  • Thank you to all of the volunteers and especially current and previous members of Executive Board

  • Monday, December 14th 6:30PM on Zoom
